Yankee Fans are Stupid

With the Boston Red Sox in the Bronx for the next couple of days for a three-game series against the New York Yankees, the theme for this week's "YouTube Tuesday" is Yankees fans are stupid. Plus, their team sucks (here's three reasons - Darrell Rasner, Sidney Ponson and Carl Pavano).

For the first time since the inception of "YouTube Tuesday" we'll have a hybrid post, one video and one picture (only because the picture is soooo good we couldn't pass up the chance to post it).

Exhibit #1 as to why Yankees Fans are Stupid. This fool thinks he's Nature Boy Ric Flair. WOOOOO!!! He lives in a giant Toilet Bowl.

Exhibit #2. I've never seen a guy wearing Uggs, never mind coordinating it with a Melky Cabrera shirt. I bet he doesn't have the balls to wear the Uggs to Yankee Stadium, where the fans wouldn't let him leave the stadium alive. The girl on the right is totally checking out his man Uggs.

Random Thoughts, Sights, Sounds - A Potpourri of Knowledge

Today's Randomness will start off with something that is a real enjoyable part of summer - drinking. Having a few adult beverages is a good way to pass the time during any part of the year, but there's something about sitting outside on a warm summer evening and having a couple beers (or any other beverage of choice) that's a little more refreshing.

The reason I'm now choosing to bring up drinking is that there has been several articles and studies conducted recently regarding drinking that are very interesting.

Once you read both studies that have been in the news lately, it makes you sit back, ponder and think, "They needed to spend money to conduct a study for something as obvious as that?"

The first study that came out this week says, that 'beer goggles' do exist and that scientists have proven that people really do look better after a couple of drinks.

I didn't know that there was a huge outcry from the public needing to have scientific evidence to prove that beer goggles are real. Ask any boy over the age of 14 and he'll be able to tell you how much attractive girls are after throwing back a beer.

The second study of the week announced to the world that sports stadiums serve alcohol to minors and intoxicated fans.

Shocking...Absolutely shocking. Again, they needed a study for this. The researchers could have just checked out the 'Awkard McLovin getting dug by Chicks' blog to find two examples of this.

The third article about drinking that came out this week was by far and away the most interesting, as nearly 100 presidents of colleges and universities across this great land want to drop the drinking age back to 18 to curtail binge drinking.

Talk about picking a battle that you have no chance of winning. Since these are presidents of colleges and universities, we are talking about 100 of the most intelligent, knowledgeable people around and they choose to try to defend their argument by saying they want to lower the drinking age to 18 because you want people to drink in moderation not to excess. Not a smart move.

You want to lower the drinking age to 18 - fine, but defend your argument by saying that if you can go to war for this country (and die for this country), if you can get married (that's when you should really be allowed to drink) and if you can decide on what leaders you want running this country all at 18, then you should be allowed legally to have a drink.

The sound of the week comes from Metallica, as Thursday was a day that Metallica fans thought would never come. The first single, The Day That Never Comes off their upcoming album Death Magnetic, (which hits stores Sept 12) was released. You can hear the new song here.

First there was R.E.M., then Motley Crue, and now Metallica, all bands with their new releases this year deciding to go back and put out the sound that made them so successful in the 80's and early '90s.

The Day That Never Comes might arguably be Metallica's best song since And Justice for All was released - that was 19 years ago. It definitely is better than anything that came out on Load, Re-Load or St. Anger.

Enjoy the new song and have a great weekend.

Crazy Stunts

The theme for today's 'YouTube' Tuesday (yes, it's Wednesday, but it's summertime, everything's a little bit more laid back), is Crazy Stunts.

In posting today's entries of a TV newsreporter doing the obligatory 'let's try the Michael Phelps breakfast menu and see how far I can get' and some crazy guy kite surfing in Miami during Hurricane Fay, I have to wonder which stunt can cause more bodily harm.

The easy, quick answer would be kite surfing in a hurricane (especially once you see how much and far this guy gets thrown around), but pounding down 9,000-12,000 calories a day, starting off with a meal of a 5 egg omelet, three fried egg sandwiches (with onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo), 3 slices of french toast, 3 chocolate chip pancakes, a bowl of grits and two cups of coffee (to wash everything down) has it's own built in dangers.

You could have given this tv reporter all day long to eat this meal and he wouldn't have been able to get through it. Also, nice job by the assignment editor on choosing probably the skinnest guy in the office to attempt this massive feat. He didn't come close to finishing all the food and he still throws up. If you made him still there and finish the entire meal, I put the over/under on him throwing up at 3. What there wasn't anyone else (who is maybe a little larger) available?

As for the kite surfer in Miami, I'm sure the idea of kite surfing in a hurricane sounded like a good idea to him at the time, but I'm positive he's having second thoughts as he bounces off the beach like a superball and crash lands in a parking lot.

The 100th Episode

This blog entry marks the one-hundredth in the history of the "Chicks Dig McLovin Awkwardly in the Morning instead of at Night" blog since it's inception on Monday, February 11th. It took awhile to get here (only six months and one week), but we've somehow made it this far.

I had several different ideas (a top 10 list of what I thought were the best posts or an overall recap of six plus months of blog entries, or a rundown of some of the rumors we've had on the site, topped off by the latest one involving a Red Sox catcher and sideline reporter - if true, this is outstanding) of what this post could contain, but Friday night, it hit me as to what this post would be - something of a little more significance.

Instead of looking back, I'm going to use today's entry to extend a big word of congratulations to WEEI and NESN for having the Jimmy Fund Telethon on Thursday and Friday last week. They not only reached their goal of raising $4 million, they shattered that mark by raising over $4.8 million.

Hopefully, the money raised will go a long way towards making "You have cancer" three words that no person, parent or child will think of as a potential death sentence.

So again, congratulations to WEEI and NESN for a job well done.

On a personal note, the first 100 posts have been fun. Thanks to all of those who've stopped by for a visit over the past six months. It's been great having you. Feel free to come back on a regular basis to check out the next 100 posts.

Random Thoughts, Sights, Sounds - A Potpourri of Knowledge

First, there was Agent 99 from Get Smart, then Wayne Gretzky, Ricky Vaughn and Manny Ramirez have donned the number 99. The Chicks Dig Blog will don the number today as today's Rambling's is the 99th post since our inception way back in February.

Today is 15 AM (after Manny) for the Boston Red Sox and the Sox have gone 10-3 since trading away Dreadlock Boy to the Dodgers. Granted, they've beaten up on the Weak Sisters of the Poor (Oakland, Kansas City and Texas) during the streak, but their 10 wins in August have put them 20 games over .500 for the first time this season (and it only took 122 games).

The offensive outburst against Texas withstanding, I still think for the long term that the Sox are a worse team on the field without Ramirez and with Jason Bay. Since the trade, Manny's hitting .438 with 5 homers, has 16 RBI and has an OPS of 1.355, while Jason Bay is batting .317-1-12 with an OPS of .866.

The trade of Manny and the fact the Sox are trailing Tampa by three games in the standings (with six games remaining against Tampa September 8-17) hasn't stopped Kelly Clarkson fun enjoying a night out at Fenway with her girlfriends, while partaking in a few adult beverages and singing along to Sweet Caroline.

One note to Kelly (who pops up randomly in front of her friends in the video) though: You are a famous recording artist and you sang at Game 2 of the 2004 World Series, hit up the Sox for some better seats - it's okay.

The sight of the week comes from San Diego wide receiver Chris Chambers showing off his mad crazy wide receiver skills. I might take him in my fantasy football draft (he gives me three reasons why I should) because if he can catch passes like he shows in the video, then Phillip Rivers should have no problem getting him the ball.

The sound of the week comes from 91-year-old Earnest Borgnine going on Fox News and telling everyone that he's located the fountain of youth (here's a hint: it's yellow and in his mattress). I love how old people don't give a shit what they say and where they are when they say it. Earnest didn't care that he announced on television that he wets the bed. He proudly told everyone that he did it the day before he went on the show.

"I just shook his hand"

Have a great weekend everyone.

WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon

Because of the importance of this, we'll let this quick note stand on it's own today.

Tomorrow (August 14) marks the start of the seventh annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon. WEEI and NESN are looking to raise $4 million during this two-day event, all to benefit the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as they continue their efforts to find a cure for cancer.

The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber are organizations that myself and my family have been supporters of for long time and will continue to be in the future.

If you're not familiar with the work that the Dana-Farber does, click here for more info. Also, if you would like to help WEEI and NESN try to reach their goal of raising $4 million this year, click here for information on how to make a donation.

Good luck to WEEI and NESN as they try to hit the $4 million mark this year.

New Release Tuesday

Once 12:01 a.m. hit this morning, the waiting, the anticipation, the eagerness was over and the excitement had begun to flow.

The build up had been coming for months, as fans had been scouring the internet for the latest news, updates and release date. People waited in lines for hours, rushing the shelves and counters in the seconds after midnight with their newest purchase, one they thought they would never see.

Am I talking about Madden 09 - no, of course not (but you thought I was). I am talking about something bigger and better than even the new version of Madden football.

Saudades de Rock.

The first album in 13 years from Extreme - YEAH BABY WOO WOO!!!!

Okay, I'm not that excited about it, but somebody has to be.

With that being said, the theme for today's YouTube Tuesday on the Extreme Chicks (with the tight jeans and huge hair) Loves McLovin Blog is New Release Tuesday.

Here's one of the last looks that we had at the 1990's version of Extreme with a video off what had been their last album - Waiting for the Punchline.

And here's something to appease all the Madden fanatics out there.

Random Thoughts, Sights, Sounds - A Potpourri of Knowledge

Today is 1AM on the Chicks Dig Morning McLovin Blog - 1 After Manny and the sun rose, Dunkin Donuts opened for business, people went about their lives and the world known as Red Sox Nation did not come crashing down in a heap of rubble.

Day 1 of Life after Manny means that the ownership, front office and the 25 players in the clubhouse can no longer use 'Manny Being Manny' as an excuse for their poor play anymore. It's put up or shut up time for this team.

Will this trade give them the boost they had after trading Nomar in 2004 or will the post all-star break slide continue because the team is worse (in terms of talent on the field) than they were yesterday? I know Manny needed to be sent out of town, but I still think that 5 players and $7 million for Jason Bay, and get nothing else in return, is way too much to have paid.

I heard on the radio this morning that several hours after making the trade that neither LA GM Ned Colletti or manager Joe Torre had talked with Manny yet. Both had left messages for him. Looks like Manny's career as a Dodger is getting off on the right foot.

By the way, baseball's trade deadline day and the NFL Day are the two most exciting non-sport days in sports.

As an aside note: I was at Manny's first Fenway game in a Red Sox uniform back in 2001. He hit a three-run homer in the first on the very first pitch to tie Tampa 3-3, on a cold, wet, otherwise dreary opening day at Fenway and now I get the see the first game of the Jason Bay era live and in person this evening as the Sox battle the Oakland A's (I thought that was weird).

Looks like the Inside Track girls (and OK! magazine) are ruining Giesele's potential for a 'surprise' aspect for Tom Brady's 31st birthday gift. While a 12-month calendar of flattering Gisele photos might seem like a perfect gift, who wants a calendar full of pics of your girlfriend/spouse? Though it does serve as a reminder to all of your buddies whose dating the hottest chick.

"Hey, Matt (Light) come over here a minute. What month we in - January. Hey look here's Gisele rolling around on a beach - all wet, wearing little clothing. Isn't that nice? Have you seen this? You want another look? Want to see what day the Super Bowl is on in February?"

"Go to hell Tom. I'll remember this the next time Dwight Freeney is lined up across from me."

An even better gift is 12 flattering photos of Tom's 12 favorite hotties (other than Gisele of course). That would be the perfect gift.

Finally, the site will be quiet next week as I'm talking the week off to see the land of Story's and Santa. Have a great weekend and week.
